What exactly is the books by mail program?

The Books-By-Mail program is a free program provided by Northwest Regional Library. The program is aimed at helping medically homebound patrons, those that require LARGE PRINT or AUDIOBOOKS, or patrons who live more than ten miles from a town with a library and are residents of Franklin, Marion or Lamar Counties. To be considered homebound, you must not be able to leave your residence.

We send 2-3 books at a time in one of our special mail bags. Once you finish, send them back and we will send you more! We can also sign you up for access to our e-books! If you have any questions about the application or program, please call us at (205)-487-2330.

Due to limited funding and rising postage costs, we must institute a damaged book policy. For us to keep the program going, we must ask that if a book is returned damaged, you will be responsible for the cost of replacing that book. Large print books are more expensive, and it is hard for us to replace books outside of grant funding. Be aware some run over $30. Please DO NOT eat, drink, or smoke around the books. DO NOT leave them unattended around children or pets. Please DO NOT fold pages, we can provide bookmarks free of charge. By submitting the application, you acknowledge that you have read this statement and agree to be charged for books returned damaged.
